By: Lisa McMann
Where do I even start! I have had this book on my nook for a few years thinking I would get to it someday, well, that someday is here! I had finished my book that I had brought with me on vacation and was getting my nook back from my sister so I figured I would just read one of them on my nook. This book took me all of two days to finish. As I read the chapters they were short and it was a quick read. I found that as I finished one chapter I was left hanging and wanting more. I wanted to know what would happen to the characters and how the vision continued to evolve and effect her life. I really enjoyed this book and have recommended it to a few of my friends. This is the first book of a trilogy so after reading the first book I went to my local book store to see if I could get used copies of book 2 and 3. I was able to find book 2 and book 3 was coming out that week. I was very excited to hear that because Lisa McMann was a local author she was coming to the bookstore. I made it a point to see her in person. I really loved the first book and would recommend it for others to read (oh wait I already did!). Be on the look out for my reviews on the second and third book in this Visions Trilogy.
Jules lives with her family above their restaurant, which means she smells like pizza most of the time and drives their double-meatball-shaped food truck to school. It’s not a recipe for popularity, but she can handle that.
What she can’t handle is the recurring vision that haunts her. Over and over, Jules sees a careening truck hit a building and explode…and nine body bags in the snow.
The vision is everywhere—on billboards, television screens, windows—and she’s the only one who sees it. And the more she sees it, the more she sees. The vision is giving her clues, and soon Jules knows what she has to do. Because now she can see the face in one of the body bags, and it’s someone she knows. Someone she has been in love with for as long as she can remember.
In this riveting start to a gripping series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa McMann, Jules has to act—and act fast—to keep her vision from becoming reality.
Instead of a #OWOP post today I figured I would let ALL my media outlets know that I have posted a giveaway on my Instagram @urbanannebags. If your interested in entering please go follow me! I will be giving away the bag pictured without all the baby items inside. The giveaway will be closing Thursday, July 31st at 10pm (PST.)

The Longest Ride
By: Nicholas Sparks
Let me start by saying that I LOVE NICHOLAS SPARKS BOOKS! Ok, now that I have that out there I can honestly write about this book. When I picked up this book I expected it to be like all the other books he has written and don’t get me wrong it is, but it moves a bit slower and fills in many “cracks” as you read it. The plot line for this book is AWESOME and how the two stories collide is just magical. As I read this book I was thinking ok how does this all fit together as I neared the end of the book the last few chapters the book really came together beautifully. The love story between Luke and Sophia is so sweet and real. The story of Ira’s life and the scene of the crash is amazing and so touching. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a good puzzle piece love story. Nicholas Sparks did a GREAT job tying up all loose ends and ending the story beautifully. I will admit I did have a few tears in my eyes as I read the end of this book. Tears of joy!
Ira Levinson is in trouble. Ninety-one years old and stranded and injured after a car crash, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together – how they met, the precious paintings they collected together, the dark days of WWII and its effect on them and their families. Ira knows that Ruth can’t possibly be in the car with him, but he clings to her words and his memories, reliving the sorrows and everyday joys that defined their marriage.
A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest College senior’s life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward — even life and death – loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans — a future that Luke has the power to rewrite . . . if the secret he’s keeping doesn’t destroy it first.
Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.
Hello friends! Hope this One Word, One Prayer finds you well. I have only a few weeks left of summer and I am trying to get all the things I need to get done, done before school starts. I have opened my shop and plan to do a giveaway VERY soon ;)! Today I had a few errands that I needed to run. One of the places I went to I ran into someone that does not know me but I follow their blog and Instagram feed. So I was BRAVE and introduced myself and handed out a buisness card. I would not normally do this but I thought what do I have to loose. I am looking to network with bloggers in Arizona so that I can have a shoulder to lean on when I am in need to advice for this space in which I write. I did hand this person my business card and was thinking OH MAN the person that blogs is well known and has a large following. I stepped outside of my comfort zone today for the sake of my blog and business. I want to be more BRAVE and conquer head on what God places in front of me. I am SUPER excited about the short contact that was made and plan to follow up with an email so that I am not just a crazy person. This afternoon I saw the picture posted about in my Instagram feed. It is from Annie Downs most recent book “Let’s All be Brave.” I felt like this was written just for me. So long story short my word for the week is BRAVE!
What is your word for the week??? Comment below I would LOVE to hear what your #OWOP is!

We Were Liars
By: E. Lockhart
This book I saw several summaries about and lots of buzz about the book at the beginning of the summer. I put it on my to read list and ask for my local library to put a hold on this book for me. When it came in I decided it was on the shorter side so I would sit down and read it. I found this book to be very confusing in the beginning. I was unsure what was happening and how all the characters connected. As I continued to read I was determined to finish the book so I looked up reviews online about this book. The reviews helped me piece together all the loose ends and they reassured me that I would get all of the answers I was looking for towards the end of the book. As I finished this book I thought it was well written but it was not on my top 10 list. This book was an interesting read and I am glad I finished this book.
A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

This weekend as I wrestled with what word I would pick I felt like maybe I should continue the word I picked last week which was SCHEDULE. I did not do such a great job with this word. I made time the first day to have quiet time with my bible and the Lord but the rest of the week I was just so busy. I know, I know this is no excuse that is why I felt like this week I should focus on this word again. Even though I would like reading the bible and having quiet study time to be apart of my daily life it hard and we all have to be intentional when we decide to put this time into our lives. As I near starting school I am thinking that I could build just 5 minutes into my prep time and even though I know I should be planning and prep for school I feel as though this might center me and be a good anchor if I am having an especially challenging or great day.
This week I have decided to pray and think about the word TRUST. I have lots of exciting things happening in my life, blog, and a new business. I have to put my full and complete trust in the Lord that I am right where I need to be and right where he wants me to be. I am so excited to launch my new store and jump in with both feet meeting other Arizona bloggers. I have made a few connections and would like to continue to grow this blog. Currently the focus is books and my OWOP posts. I am looking into adding some cooking posts as I cook often and I sell Pampered Chef. I love teaching but I love cooking, reading and blogging also. How do you fit everything in well I guess that is why this weeks word is so important and pulls at my heart strings. TURST sometimes is hard but a daily reminder to TRUST this week will help me as I end summer and beginning working for the 2014-2015 school year.
Do you have a word that you will focus on this week? Add it to the comments section!
If you don’t have a word for the week join me in thinking and praying about the word TRUST!

The One (The Selection)
By: Kiera Cass
This book is the LAST ONE 😦 in The Selection Series. I borrowed the first two from a student in my class and this one came out in May which was the last month of school. I made a goal for myself that I would not buy any NEW books this year so I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Buy it and feel bad or wait for the library to get it in. Well as you all know if you follow me on Instagram @urbanannebags I went out and purchased the book. I do not regret or feel bad about buying this book new in the current year. I loved this series and feel like this book rounded out the series beautifully. I was so excited to read this book that I had read half the book before the student who had let me borrow her other two had even received the book. I am so thankful that I went out to buy the book because I just got an email from the library a week ago saying that the book was finally in. I don’t think I could have waited that long. I would highly recommend this series to any young adult or any adult who loves YA. It was a great love story and an easy read.
The highly anticipated third book in Kiera Cass’s #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series, The One will captivate readers who love dystopian YA fiction and fairy tales. The One is perfect for the fans who have followed America’s whirlwind romance since it began—and a swoon-worthy read for teens who have devoured Veronica Roth’s Divergent, Ally Condie’s Matched, or Lauren Oliver’s Delirium.
The Selection changed America Singer’s life in ways she never could have imagined. Since she entered the competition to become the next princess of Illéa, America has struggled with her feelings for her first love, Aspen—and her growing attraction to Prince Maxon. Now she’s made her choice . . . and she’s prepared to fight for the future she wants.
Find out who America will choose in The One, the enchanting, beautifully romantic third book in the Selection series!

Well here we are it is Tuesday and almost one month from my last post! I have had lots going on with 4th of July and a quick trip to Disneyland! (Which is a place I LOVE going to!!)
I have still been thinking about what word I would focus on for the upcoming week. This week as I walked into church I thought of the word I would think and pray about for this upcoming week. I always take my bible and a notebook into church so that I can write any notes as the pastor is teaching for the service. Before the pastor started as I pulled out my notebook I had this pull on my heart to pray, think and put into play the word SCHEDULING. I LOVED the small group women’s bible study that I participated in the spring and I really liked that I regularly had “homework” to complete which got me digging in the bible. I always have great intentions to do quiet time with the Lord in the morning before I go to work so this week I scheduled in my phone all of the verses that were referenced in the teaching on Sunday. I have intentionally scheduled time every morning this week to have quiet time with my Lord and Savior. The best part was as I sat through the teaching (sermon) at church the teaching was all about how when we dig into the word God will work through us. If we put the word into play God will work trough us. I had chills run through my body as he wrapped up the sermon with talking about how we as Christians should dig into his word and know his word so that we are closer to him. What a God moment for me this weekend. I looked back at the word I had written before the sermon even started and just felt comfort in knowing that I am doing the right thing and that through him I am getting the words that will really work and speak to my heart for the week.
Be on the look out for my new bags/store to be announced later this week! Comment with which color tote bag/purse you would buy. I am looking to raffle on off!
