Book #6 The Selection (Goal 50)

The Selection

By: Kiera Cass

This book was AMAZING!!!! I have told several people about this book and the best way to explain this book is dystopian, victorian, bachelor teen novel. This book takes place after World War 4 where there is now a king and queen the rule the land. They have a son named Maxon who is of age to get married. The country all takes part in a selection in which the princess with be chosen in a bachelor show kinda manor. This is the first of three books so if you read the first get ready for the ride to read all three. I was told about this book when if first came out and had not picked it up but after seeing a student in on of my classes reading it I thought I would give it a try and the added bonus was that she let me barrow her copy. This book is a young adult book and I would recommend it to any teen girl who is into Hunger Games and a love story. I would also recommend this book to adults that are YA literature junkies. This was a quick read for me. I have finished both the first and second (be on the look out for that review) and I am waiting patiently for the 3rd book to come out this week. I have already been placed on a waiting list at the library so that as soon as the book comes in I can come over to check it out! Hope if you read this book you will love it as much as I did.

Amazon Summary:

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
