I have been using oils off and on for the past 2 years. I have just started “selling” them and recommending blends to my friends and family. I am not a doctor and this post is merely and suggestion to help with some of your every day ailments not to diagnosis or treat you. If your interesting in learning more about the oils or have any further questions please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interesting in some samples please email also! If you know for sure your ready to buy and would like to order you can visit my DoTerra Homepage to order at http://mydoterra.com/underthebrella.
I first heard about Doterra Oils about two years ago from a friend that I knew from camp. She was using them with her young son. I had read on her Facebook that she was reading a great book. So I wrote her and asked her which book. She then told me it was Modern Essentials. I then researched the book and asked her to send me a copy. I was SUPER excited to get my oils. I have been ordering and using oils off and on for the past two years. I want to give you the readers the facts about each oil and what they are commonly used for. There are three different ways in which the oils can enter you body. You can use the oils aromatically and just smell the oils to help your condition. When using the oils aromatically you can use the oils in a diffuser and you can also place a few drops of the oil into your hands and cup them other your nose and mouth to enjoy the aromatic benefits of the oils. You can also use the topically. There are two ways in which you can apply the oils topically, neat and with a carrier oil. When applying the oil neat you are using the oil straight out of the bottle. It is recommended for some oils to use with a carrier oil because it is considered “hot” and it could burn/irritate the skin. The other way you can use most DoTerra oils is internally. You can fill an empty veggie capsule and take the oils to help various conditions. (Please be sure when using other oils you research if they are safe to take internally.) I will be reviewing each oil that comes in the Family Physicians Kit. You can purchase this kit for your own personal medicine cabinet for $125.Lavender: I used lavender for several months for a good nights sleep. I would place the oil neat on my feet, behind my ears and on my wrists. I love the smell of the oil and associated it with sleep after I slept so well. Suggested uses include: diffuse or apply topically to calm anxiety, apply to irritated skin of lips, place on bottom of feet, back, or a drop on your pillow before bed, and apply to calm bee sting or bug bite reactions. Lavender calms skin irritations like bug bites, burns, and it heals skin tissue quickly.
Lemon: I love to carry a small bottle of lemon in my purse to add to my water when I am out to eat. Suggested uses include: add to honey to soothe a sore throat, diffuse in a room to neutralize odors and elevate mood, use as a cleaner for kitchen counters and stainless steel appliances, take internally with water as a detoxifier.
Peppermint: I started using peppermint to help with my headaches. For me it did not work the best so I have tried other oils that have helped. I have most recently added this oil to my coffee in the morning along with some chocolate almond milk for a “peppermint mocha” taste. I really like to diffuse this oil with wild orange in my classroom. Suggested uses include: using with lemon in water for a health and refreshing mouth rinse, inhale deeply to increase alertness, add to a spray bottle with water and mist body when overheated, apply to neck and forehead to calm headaches. Peppermint also helps with sunburns, hot flashes, heartburn, cold sores, and allergies when mixed with lemon and lavender.
Melaleuca (Tea Tree): My first experience with this oil was when I received it in my physicians kit. I had heard and read so may things about how it helped with acne so I tried it! I really like to place the oil right on my acne neat. I have also add this oil along with frankincense to some coconut oil which I use as a face moisturizer at night. Suggested uses included: apply to skin blemishes and rashes, use with shampoo and conditioner for a health scalp, apply to feet after showering, swimming, or working out. Melaleuca helps skin infections, fungal infections (yeast/nail/athletes foot), eczema and diaper rash.
Oregano: I honestly have not yet tried this oil yet. I plan to try out this oil when I have an internal infection or any kind of foot fungus problems. Suggested uses include: take drops in a gelatin capsule for immune support, dilute and apply to bottom of feet as a natural defense, use internally as part of a monthly cleansing for your GI health. oregano helps with warts, skin tags, and internal infections. BE SURE TO DILUTE IF APPLYING IT TO YOU SKIN.
Deep Blue: This oil is considered a blend through DoTerra. I use this oil at least once a week. I work out on a regular basis and this oil works wonderful when applied to sore muscles. DoTerra makes a great lotion that already has this oil mixed in. I have shared this oil and lotion with several people at the gym. All are amazed how much it feels like icy hot but doesn’t have the after effects or chemicals. Suggested uses include: applying to tired or aching joints, rub on muscles before and after working out, use with a carrier oil for a therapeutic deep tissue massage. Please not this oil is only used for topical uses. Deep Blue can be used in any pains- headaches/migraines, arthritis, growing pains, etc.
Breathe: This oil is considered a blend of oils. I have not yet used this oil yet but it came in my physician’s kit. I plan to try out this oil on my sinuses and chest before going to a workout. If I come down with a cold this winter this will be the first oil I will go to and place it on my chest. Suggested uses include: apply to chest and neck to help clear lungs, diffuse or add to a humidifier at bedtime for more restful sleep, apply to chest or bottom of feet for seasonal respiratory discomfort. This oil blend should not be taken internally.
Digestzen: This oil is considered a blend of oils through DoTerra. I LOVE this blend. When I am going through my time of the month I tried out this oil first for my symptoms of bloating. It works like a charm topically. I have had friends use it daily for their bloating symptoms from colitis. My sister is currently using this oil on the bottoms of her baby’s feet to help with his upset tummy issues. Suggested uses include: rub on stomach to ease discomfort, nausea, or motion sickness, internally take at meal time to support healthy digestion, apply to bottoms of feet to help ease digestion issues.
On Guard: This oil is considered a blend of oils through DoTerra. I have been using this oil for a LONG time. This is one of the first oils that I invested my money in. I decided a few years ago that at the beginning of the school year I would place this oil on the bottoms of my feet every night at the start of the school year and didn’t get sick at all. Suggested uses include: dilute and gargle in the morning and night as a protective blend, take in a gelatin capsule for immune support, dilute in a spray bottle to clean doorknobs, telephones, and community surfaces, diffuse in a room to eliminate airborne pathogens.
Frankincense: I was super excited to get this oil in my kit. I have always been told that when in doubt use frankincense. I have placed this oil along with melaleuca in some coconut oil to use as a moisturizer on my face. When I make mixes of oils for friends and family I always add in at least 5 drops of this oil because every little bit will help heal and boast their bodies functioning. Suggested uses include: use to clean and dress minor cuts, bites and sores, apply with Lavender and Peppermint to neck and forehead to help calm stress and headaches, apply to feet or take internally to help boast immune support, use with favorite moisturizer for beautiful radiant skin, use aromatically and topically to help list mood and awareness. This oil is good for applying to scars, preventing wrinkles, and it aides in cell repair.
I hope that this post was helpful. Let me know if there is an oil that you love and use daily!
